This year, we are hosting the event at the Maagdenhuis as a lead-in to Peter van Dam’s inaugural lecture on the importance of Dutch history in the climate crisis. The lecture will take place in the Aula (Lutherse Kerk) at 16.30 (in Dutch). We hope many of you will join us in celebrating this special occasion.

  • 12.30 Walk-in and welcome 
  • 13.00 Opening and ‘State of Sustainability at UvA’ : Showcase of four key projects: Algae for the circular economy: enhancing yield by solar spectral shaping; Regulation of environmental sustainability in global supply chains through big data and modelling; SPRINGS Project: tackling the effects of climate change on diarrheal diseases; Energy Labels for Ecologically Sustainable Digital Services.
  • Workshop: UvA's footprint: How can we leverage insights from researchers to reduce the university’s environmental footprint, and potentially turn the UvA into a living-lab? The outcomes will help shape the Sustainability Agenda of the UvA. 
  • 16.00 Event closing and transition to Peter van Dam’s inaugural lecture
